Today, I am delighted to share some much-anticipated updates about PhotoShelter. We last spoke about new products a long time ago. At PhotoShelter, we’ve worked on several projects to deliver a better user experience, new capabilities, and improved vital features.
Modern design, features, and experience
We’ve heard from many of you that you would like to see PhotoShelter updated for photographers. We are working hard to deliver this. We are currently working on modernizing our platform to improve our UI and your workflow significantly. This update will replace the Image Browser with a new Library, which offers enhanced functionality and a streamlined user experience. Photographers can also take advantage of the latest features in our Brands Platform. This project began in late 2022, and we expect it to last through 2023.
We are adding photographers as testers and advisory council members to our list if you want to get an insider’s view. Fill in this form if you’d like to be involved!
We invest in our infrastructure so that your images are safe and look great.
We value your trust and will do our best to protect each image you upload. We are a rock-solid reliable company. Over the years, we have built a robust system to protect your files. We’ve made several infrastructure upgrades recently to provide a reliable and fast platform. These updates on the backend have contributed to an overall faster experience and allowed us to continue protecting and serving you.
We’ve also been working hard to make sure we use the latest image processing technology so that the quality of your photos displayed is as high as possible. We have just released an enhancement that will improve the display of RAW files. We’ll use the embedded JPG that most cameras provide with their RAW files for all newly uploaded images. This will ensure your previews in the camera look the same as when you view them in PhotoShelter.
New Templates: The Next Steps
We are on a new journey to rebuild PhotoShelter from the ground up. In recent years, we planned to create a completely new site builder. We decided to stop development of that project after carefully reassessing the efforts we had made. After the above improvements, which will reset Photoshelter’s foundations, we will explore integration options in order to bring you the new generation of website design you deserve. You’ve spoken – we’ve listened to what you said. We want more design options, optimized image navigation on mobile devices, and more potent search engine SEO. Why do we take an “inside-out” approach? We are taking an “inside out” approach because the “front end’ website templates must closely align with our upgraded “back end” product information architecture and user experience.
Communication lines smoothed out.
We also heard that you would prefer a faster response from our support team. We are moving away from our call scheduling tool that we introduced last summer because we feel it delays our ability to help you in real time. Since then, we’ve increased our staff so that you can reach us when you need it most. If we are unable to resolve your issue in a simple reply, you can send us an email. We will then book a live chat as soon as we can.
I’d like to stress that we are committed to your success and will provide you with a platform that allows you to share, showcase and monetize your work effectively. Your support is greatly appreciated as we work together to shape the future of PhotoShelter for Photographers. We remain committed to your success and satisfaction.
I would also like to thank the photographers that have called PhotoShelter their home for the past 18 years. We appreciate you being a part of our community. We are excited to start a new chapter and open new collaboration opportunities with PhotoShelter.
